This weeks Shoutouts:
R.R. of Windsor, CA"I would like to see if some executive from Sirius would see if the NFL would be willing to put the 'Sirius Dog' as well as Sirius Radio on the nets that catch the ball when the PAT (Point after touchdown) is kicked? I noticed 'Allstate' had their logo imprinted on the nets during the NFL games. Not only did Sirius give the NFL money for the rights to broadcast but, they also issued 'stock' to the NFL teams. I would have to assume the NFL makes money for their players '401k', as well the NFL. If Sirius does well, so do the shares that Sirius Issued to the NFL teams.
The nets will not be that expensive either. I say get errrr done."SSG Comment:Your idea is an interesting concept, and would surely get air time. While Sirius did buy NFL rights, each individual team dictates what happens in their respective stadiums. All teams did get some shares from Sirius for the initial part of the deal. These teams can earn additional warrants by a few differing methods, and some teams are more aggressive at this than others. Many of the warrants assigned to the NFL deal have not yet been earned by the respective teams. The warrants tie to subscribers generated by the respective teams that are directly attributable to that team. While putting the Sirius logo on the nets would generate subscribers, these subscribers would not be "trackable" back to the team, and by the contract, would not benefit the team owner in terms of earning warrants. This is not to say that Sirius themselves may not try out such an idea by paying for it, but simply to point out that such a plan would not benefit a team in terms of the warrants they can earn. When all is said and done, many warrants that are on the table will likely expire unearned.Submission by E.C. - SSG Reader"I read the Motley Fool's discussion board from time to time. There are some interesting contributors there who might be good for your site. Just a thought."SSG Comment:Thank You for the comment. Yes, we are looking to add another writer to SSG. Varied opinions are "healthy", and we want to ensure our readers get a feel for XM and Sirius from different perspectives. As yet, we have not had anyone step forward to discuss this opportunity. If someone is interested in participating on this site they can e-mail their contact information to satellitestandard@gmail.comThat's it for this week. Keep your comments coming.
