Institutional Holdings

SaveryInvestors often follow institutional holdings for equities. While institutional holdings do carry a potential impact on the price of an equity (they often carry large numbers of shares), the information lags by a
time frame that diminishes the value of the information. Often, a position is taken or liquidated long before anyone knows that the activity has happened.
Institutions outline their holdings within 45 days of the end of a quarter. this means that the holdings summary for Q1 is due today, May 15
th. Even at that, it takes a few days for all of the information to get into the system.
Investors should look for large swings in institutional ownership. This helps gage sentiment of the equity, however, bear in mind the age of the information.
We will outline the holdings as of today, and follow up with the latest information again on Friday.
