Nissan States They Could Conclude Talks With GM This Month

According to the Associated Press, it looks as though the talks between GM and Nissan could be wrapped up withing the next couple of weeks. Whether this means the alliance will happen is still up in the air. There have been several possibilities floated in the past couple of months. Potential deals include a Ford and GM relationship, as well as a ford Nissan relationship.

Nissan to Conclude Talks on Possible Tie-Up With GM by Mid-October As Planned
TOKYO (AP) --

"A senior Nissan Motor Co. executive said Tuesday that his company will conclude talks on a possible tie-up with General Motors Corp. and Renault SA by mid-October, as planned.
Nissan Chief Operating Officer Toshiyuki Shiga declined to comment on a remark by GM Chief Executive Richard Wagoner that the three parties could extend their talks over a potential alliance.

Wagoner said last Thursday that GM could continue to study a potential alliance with Renault and Nissan beyond the initially set Oct. 15 deadline for their talks......."
