California Blames Automakers For Global Warming
California sues automakers for global warming damages

California on Wednesday filed suit against six U.S. and Japanese auto manufacturers, alleging their vehicles' emissions have contributed to global warming, and harmed the resources and environmental health of the state, costing it millions of dollars. Filed in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, the complaint names as defendants DaimlerChrysler AG's Chrysler Motors Corp., General Motors Corp., Ford Motor Co., Toyota Motor North America Inc., Honda North America and Nissan North America.
"Vehicle emissions are the single most rapidly growing source of the carbon emissions contributing to global warming, yet the federal government and automakers have refused to act," said California Attorney General Bill Lockyer in a statement. "It is time to hold these companies responsible for their contribution to this crisis." READ MORE:
