Commentary: NPD Data Vs OEM Installations

Slowing Growth? Not If You Look At The Big Picture" to address the concern that the NPD August sales data indicated a decline in the satellite radio retail channel compared to same period last year. "High fives" to my colleague for pointing out that as OEM installations begin to accelerate, and consumers begin to plan for and purchase their 2007 vehicles, sales of satellite radio in retail channels will go through an "adjustment" period. Thus, to give an accurate picture, NPD and OEM data must be evaluated simultaneously, within the context of total subscribers.
