Heads Up...Monthly Auto Sales Being Released Tomorrow

Edmunds.com Forecasts August Auto Sales
SANTA MONICA, Calif.--Aug. 29, 2006--

This month's new vehicle sales (including fleet sales) are expected to be 1.5 million units, a 1.3 percent increase from August 2005, according to Edmunds.com, the premier online resource for automotive information.
"While sales are essentially flat, there is a drastic difference in the types of vehicles consumers are buying," noted Jesse Toprak, Executive Director of Industry Analysis for Edmunds.com. "Large SUV sales are down approximately 14 percent compared with this time last year while compact car sales are up approximately 18 percent. This is especially significant for the industry since large SUVs typically transact at around $37,000 per vehicle while the transaction price for the typical compact car is about $17,000."
This August had 27 selling days, one more than last August did. When adjusted for this difference, sales are down about 2.5 percent from August 2005. (The chart below sets forth other unadjusted and adjusted comparisons.) link to full article: HERE
