Ford Gives Nissan An Alliance Option

It has been reported that Ford Motor Company has let it be known that they have an interest in creating an alliance with Renault/Nissan should their discussions with GM not bring an alliance with GM to fruition.

Ford is an exclusive satellite radio partner of Sirius. GM is an exclusive satellite radio partner of XM. Nissan currently offers both satellite radio services via port and dealer installs, and has a factory install program slated to begin with XM for the 2008 model year.

Interestingly, this news gives Carlos Ghosen some options and leverage in his discussions with GM. Will any other potential suitors throw their hat into the ring? Only time will tell.
