Motley Fool Thinks Satellite Will Fail
May 2, 2007
There was a point in time when people thought the automobile would fail.....the television.....cable television.....CD players.....DVD players, etc.
Here is the opinion of one Motley Fool writer.
Article Excerpt:
Say goodbye to satellite radio. As a driving force in entertainment, it's already past its heyday. Just as quickly as it exploded on the scene, satellite radio is becoming yesterday's news.
It's not because XM Satellite Radio (Nasdaq:
XMSR) was able to add only half as many net new subscribers in the first quarter as it did last year. Nor is it because Sirius Satellite Radio (Nasdaq:
SIRI) added only half a million
new subscribers based on the strength of some sketchy new-car production sales schedule (auto manufacturers account for the bulk of new subscribers). Forget that the number of people who buy their satellite radio receivers in-store fell by more than 50% this year and that the churn rates -- the number of customers the radio stations lose each month -- continue to climb.
No, it's something less statistical than all that, more ephemeral. Satellite radio will fail because it sucks.
I'm not an early adopter of most technology, and I got my first Sirius satellite receiver only when Howard Stern announced that he was leaving terrestrial radio.......

LOL, it is only fair. I have been saying The Motley Fool sucks longer than satellite radio has been around. The Fool only writes about SIRIUS and XM when web hits start trending down.

Not long ago, TMF wrote an article poking fun at Howard Stern for trying to keep Sanjaya alive on American Idol. They accused Howard of capitalizing on the Americal Idol phenomenon to selfishly promote Howard's own name in the media. THF are such hypocrites.
Sirius is one of the most widely held stocks out there. The reason TMF mentions Sirius so often is because it guarantees them millions of eyeballs. Whether it's a good, bad, or indifferent comment does not matter. Any mention of Sirius guarantees eyeballs that will click into their story. Really no different than Howard's use of Sanjaya.
I have nothing against whores. But I can't stand hypocritical whores.
