XM Celebrates Larry King's 50 Years in Broadcasting With Dedicated Channel From April 16-April 20

24/7 Channel to Offer Retrospective of King's Career With Classic Interviews, Greatest Moments From Radio and Television, One-on-One Interview With XM's Bob Edwards and More

WASHINGTON, April 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- XM, the nation's leading satellite radio service with more than 7.6 million subscribers, announced today it will offer a special channel to celebrate the life and career of legendary broadcaster Larry King in honor of his 50th anniversary in broadcasting. The channel, "LARRY! A Celebration of Larry King's 50 Years in Broadcasting" (XM 130), will air over the course of five days, beginning 12 midnight ET, April 16 through April 20, exclusively on XM.

"LARRY!" (XM 130) will air unforgettable moments and interviews spanning his earlier broadcasting years on Miami's WIOD radio station and his recent work as host of "Larry King LIVE!" on CNN. Highlights from the special programming include some of his most memorable interviews with celebrities and newsmakers, such as Bob Hope, Jackie Gleason, Johnny Cash, Oprah Winfrey, Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Gregory Peck, Richard Nixon, Larry Flynt and many others. XM also will air an exclusive interview with Larry King hosted by Bob Edwards and recorded during King's daily breakfast ritual at Los Angeles' famous Nate n' Al's Deli. The interview will premiere Monday, April 16 at 8 a.m. ET on "The Bob Edwards Show," with additional encores features throughout the day as well as on "LARRY!" (XM 130).

In addition, "LARRY!" (XM 130) will feature live broadcasts of CNN's special anniversary week programming, including brand new Larry King interviews with Oprah Winfrey and Bill Clinton, a special interview with Larry King hosted by Katie Couric, a star-studded tribute to King hosted by Bill Maher and a two-hour special presentation, "CNN Presents: Larry King - 50 Years of Pop Culture." The special anniversary week programming will also be available to XM subscribers through the CNN feed (XM 122).

In 1957, Larry King started his broadcast career as a new caster at Miami's WIOD radio station. Shortly after, he reached local stardom when he became a television commentator on Miami Undercover. 1978, King went national, inheriting the nightly talk show slot on the Mutual Radio Network, working as a newscaster until 1994. Currently, he is the host of "Larry King Live," CNN's longest-running interview program. Premiering in June 1985 with its now-famous mix of interviews and topical discussions, the show features guests from across the gamut of business, entertainment and politics. The show brings in millions of viewers from across the world. In 1989, King was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame. In 2002, the industry magazine Talkers named King both the fourth-greatest radio talk show host of all time and the top television talk show host of all time.
