Podcasting......

Many have heard of it, and with 90,000,000 I-Pods sold, many participate in it. The question is whether or not podcasting is growing.

Satellite radio lists the I-Pod and MP3's as competition, and rightly so. So what is the status of I-Pod nation????

In a recent report by Edison Media Research, podcasting is still growing. Key points are:

-Awareness of the term, "Podcasting," increased from 22% in 2006 to 37% in 2007

-Persons who had 'ever' listened to an audio podcast rose from 11% to 13%

-Persons who had 'ever' watched a video podcast rose from 10% to 11%

- 54% of those that listen to podcasts do so on a portable device such as an I-Pod or MP3 player.

- 27% of those who watch podcasts do so on a portable device such as an I-Pod or MP3 player.

Clearly there is a demonstrated growth in awareness of podcasting. As the content available on podcasts becomes more mainstream, that awareness will continue to grow, as will the use of this medium.
