FCC Application
March 20, 2007
While many will be following the hearing before the Senate today, the important work is happening elsewhere.
Sirius and XM should be filing their merger application with the FCC today. Regulations specify the timeframe in which this application must be made, and that time has arrived.
Investors will likely not see anything public until tomorrow, or after hours today. I would not look for this application submission to be public until after the sen ate hearings today. Why would Sirius and XM give those that are against the merger anything more than they have to?
Thus, look for the FCC application at some point after today's senate hearing.
Unlike the DOJ application which is very confidential, the FCC application will be much more public. Once the FCC application is filed, it will be interesting to watch the street reaction, and to see how quickly the ARBS get involved.
Stay tuned
