XM Satellite Radio Names Vernon Irvin Chief Marketing Officer

Veteran Marketing Executive to Lead XM's Next Phase of Subscriber Growth
WASHINGTON, Oct. 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --

Vernon Irvin has been named Chief Marketing Officer, XM Satellite Radio, the company announced today. Irvin will report to Nate Davis, President and COO for the company. His appointment is effective November 14.

Irvin will oversee XM's strategic marketing efforts with responsibility for a number of operating groups, including media and brand marketing; retail, direct and partnership marketing; and, marketing operations, which includes service offerings, pricing, retention and market research.
XM is the nation's leading satellite radio company with more than 7 million subscribers. XM offers more than 170 digital radio channels of commercial-free music and premier sports, news, talk, and entertainment to listeners from coast to coast.

A seasoned marketing executive with more than 20 years of experience, Irvin joins XM from VeriSign, where he has served since 2003 as Executive Vice President and General Manager for the company's communications services group, with revenues of $975.7 million and more than 2,000 employees in 19 countries. While at VeriSign, he oversaw a number of areas, including sales, marketing, product management, strategic development, and network operations. He also oversaw high-growth initiatives such as the launch of Jamster, VeriSign's consumer ringtone business, which at its peak counted millions of mobile and online music consumers. During his tenure, revenue for the communications services group doubled to $850 million in two years.
Prior to joining VeriSign, Irvin served as Executive Vice President of Communications, Media, and Entertainment for American Management Systems, the international business and technology consulting company catering to corporations, and government agencies.
