Microsoft May Unveil Zune Today

Accordring to Seattlepi.com, Microsoft is expected to unveil Zune today, taking the wraps off its bid to challenge Apple's (AAPL) iPod. The announcement, scheduled for this morning, comes with time ticking down toward the planned launch of the first Zune device in the U.S. this fall. Microsoft also plans to offer a related music service. Leaked details and apparent images of the device first began appearing online months ago, and Microsoft executives have talked generally about their strategy. But the official unveiling could provide the company an opportunity to fill in the specifics. Among other things, it hasn't announced a price or explained how the music service will work.
