A Marketing Suggestion For XM

Today XM unveiled the Pink Inno. This Inno does more than give listeners a great radio experience.....It helps fight breast cancer. Some proceeds from each sale will go towards the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

First pink ribbons were the symbol for fighting breast cancer. The idea then spread to other items including electronic devices.

The compassionate side of me is proud that XM did this. It is great to see companies leveredge their products to help support a cause. Every dollar helps, and companies such as XM participating in these endeavors raises awareness.

The Business side of me says that XM now needs to take the next step. Raise awareness of XM through placing the Pink Inno in the hands of people where it will get exposure. Have Oprah talk about it on her television show. Have Ellen talk about it as well. Get this unit into the hands of celebrities that are photographed often.

People like to identify with and rally around a cause. Pink makes a statement. Pink shows support. XM should market this in a big way. It is a win/win situation. The more Pink Innos that sell, the more subscribers XM gets.....AND.....The more money that breast cancer research gets.

This idea is a commendable marketing move by XM Satellite Radio. Keep it rolling.
