A GM-Ford Alliance? Then, XM-Sirius Deserves A Closer Look
I have been closely watching negotiations between GM and Renault-Nissan. If these talks fail to materialize, a GM-Ford alliance could become a reality. If GM and Ford merge, this creates a strong motivation for talks between XM and Sirius.

Ongoing talks between General Motors Corp.
and Renault-Nissan about a global automotive alliance have not yet produced an agreement on how deeply the partnership would go in key areas, the Detroit News reported on Thursday.
The newspaper cited unnamed people close to the talks as saying that GM has favored limiting the proposed cooperation to a few dozen plants and several vehicles, while Renault-Nissan have pushed for a broader analysis of potential savings.
GM and Nissan had no comment on the report. A representative for Renault was not immediately available for comment.
The three companies began a 90-day review of the benefits of a potential alliance in mid-July after a meeting between GM Chief Executive Rick Wagoner and Carlos Ghosn, who serves as CEO of both Renault SA and Nissan Motor Co.<7201.t>...READ MORE: HERE

Ford Motor (NYSE:F) and General Motors (NYSE:GM) talked this summer about a deal between the two largest US carmakers, while both were shutting factories, cutting tens of thousands of jobs and discussing possible outside partnerships.
People familiar with the talks said there was "one discussion" and it did not lead anywhere. "There is nothing going on," one insider said.
