CDC Study: Alcohol Ads Still Running All Day On Radio

www.fmqb.comA new study has been released by the Center for Disease Control (CDC), claiming that alcohol companies are ignoring their own ban on radio advertising to teenagers. The CDC study says that approximately half of alcohol radio ads air during programming aimed at youth. It is the first study released on the subject since 2003, when the industry created its own ban on advertising at times when over 30 percent of the radio audience is under 21.
The CDC studied radio ads in 104 markets around the country and counted that 49 percent of alcohol ads ran during programming where under 21 listenership was above the percentage for that market. However, there has been a decrease in the percentage of alcohol ads running in programming where younger listeners make up over 30 percent of the audience.
