GM Revives Production Of Gas Guzzling Camaro! What Are They Thinking?!!!


No wonder the U.S. auto manufacturers are lagging. Look how they are spending their time...reviving brands rather than innovating.

Camaro’s Rebirth to Occur at Ontario Plant, G.M. Says

OTTAWA, Aug. 21 — The Chevrolet Camaro, a classic American muscle car, will be made in a Canadian factory when its production is revived in 2008, General Motors said on Monday...

...Because the Camaro is expected to sell only about 100,000 units a year, the addition of the flexible production line may ultimately prove more important for the factory’s future than the Camaro, union leaders and industry analysts said. “It’s a low-volume muscle car, so I don’t think it’s going to be huge,” the Canadian Auto Workers president, Buzz Hargrove, said of the Camaro in an interview with The Toronto Star last week. “But coupled with another platform or so, it could make a big difference.”

A prototype of the Camaro that was introduced at the Detroit auto show in January contained a 400-horsepower, eight-cylinder engine that might not be appealing given current gas prices. G.M. has not said what engine will power the production version, although it promises to offer both eight- and six-cylinder options. read more: HERE
