Dispute Between Time Warner And NFL Network; Will Fans Defect To Sirius?

FCC steps into fight between Time Warner and NFL

The Federal Communications Commission has ordered Time Warner (TWX) to reinstate the NFLNetwork to its subscribers in certain markets after the cable company abruptly pulled the channel from its lineup in these markets because of a contract dispute. Time Warner pulled the NFL Network from systems in Buffalo, Dallas, Cleveland and Los Angeles on Tuesday after acquiring them from Adelphia and Comcast. A Time Warner spokeswoman said, "This order was issued without offering us the opportunity to respond to the NFL Network's allegations. We believe the FCC's decision is wrong and we are consideringour options." The NFL is fighting to be included in basic cable packages as opposed to being part of a sports channel package that customers would have to pay extra to have.
