Heard On Sirius - The Jay Thomas Show

July 13, 2006

The Jay Thomas Show on Sirius Stars 112 is an interesting show that many people are finding their way to. Jay runs his show from Los Angeles California, and his methods and style on Sirius Satellite Radio have become widely appreciated by subscribers.

Jay recently had a fascinating guest on his show, with an incredible story that we thought was worth sharing with our readers. If you have not yet had a chance to listen to the Jay Thomas Show you should give it a try.

Jay’s guest was a lovely lady by the name of Ruth Ziolkowski and her story is not only fascinating but inspiring as well. Ruth has dedicated most of her life to working with her husband Korczak (now deceased) on a massive memorial to Crazy Horse in the Black Hills of South Dakota. The memorial is just 17 miles from another famous mountain carving, Mount Rushmore.

The Crazy Horse mountain carving has been a huge undertaking that began in 1948. It took 50 years to get the face of Crazy Horse complete, and will take many more years to incorporate the head dress, and horse. Amazingly this sculpture will be three dimensional in nature as it is carved into an outcropping of stone. To get an idea of the scale of this project one only needs to consider that all four presidents on Mount Rushmore would fit across the face of Crazy Horse at the Crazy horse Memorial.

The project is wholly financed by private money, which is another astounding feat in and of itself. What began as a dream and a vision more than 58 years ago is now taking shape. The tireless efforts of many have gone into the project, but the inspiration, vision and dream were that of the Lakota and asculptorr.

Satellite radio gives consumers a wealth of information, variety, and entertainment. Somewhere on a satellite radio dial is something that appeals to you, or a song that will bring back fond memories.
