Napster to Offer More

In a press release today Napster annonced that they are the first legal digital music service to offer music fans free on-demand listening to over 2 million major and indepedent label tracks. Napster users will be able to listen to tracks free of charge 5 times each.

As the world of digital music becomes more crowded, services such as Napster are seeking way to capitalize on getting and keeping customers. The service will be supported with advertisements, and is designed to encourage listening and entice users to purchase tracks.

Napster has thier own business model, but also has a deal with XM Satellite Radio for a service called "XM + Napster". The XM + Napster service is supposed to be the download supplement for XM's new MP3 types devices.
