The Opie and Anthony Issue

SaveryI thought long and hard about whether or not to give this issue any additional attention. For those that are not aware,
XM and CBS Radio "Shock Jocks"
Opie and Anthony have been widely criticised for comments they made about raping Secretary of State
Condi Rice, and First Lady
Laura Bush.
Now, prior to my commentary, I have a pretty simple opinion regarding the matter:
IF YOU DO NOT LIKE SOMETHING.......DON'T LISTENIt is really that simple. Whether you agree or disagree with what
Opie and Anthony said on their show, you the consumer have the final say-so in what you hear.
There are many shows that I do not like on the radio. I do not listen. WOW.....(no pun intended)..........an amazing concept.
Each listener carries within themselves their own censorship level. It differs for everyone. Let that be the the deciding factor. This is satellite radio, and it is where opinions can be freely expressed. There are also well over 100 other channels to listen to if you do not like one in particular.
To be clear, I am not saying that I agree with what was said, nor am I trying to condone it. What I am pointing out is that we, as citizens and consumers have an ability to control what we hear. Sure, it is fine to express consumer opinion, but I do not want to see satellite radio taken down the path of content regulation. if that happens, we as citizens and consumers are giving up much more than we may think.
