More Merger Hearings
March 8, 2007
The Senate Judiciary Committee wants their turn at bat regarding the proposed merger of Sirius and XM. Interestingly, the title of the hearing seems to indicate that their will be some sort of finality on whether or not this merger would create a monopoly. Given all of the testimony to date, this issue should have already been put to rest. representatives in the house overwhelmingly acknowledge that there is substantial competition in the market, and further, recognize that there have been vast changes since 1997 when the licenses were created.
