Institutional Holdings Update

November 15, 2006

We here at SSG would like to thank readers for their comment and input. Earlier today we posted the status of Institutional ownership in the SDARS equities. An SSG reader pointed out that altough today is the closing date for filing a 13-F form, that there is sometimes a lag in when the data and information get published. Thus, we will update institutional ownership again on Monday.

SSG Reader Comment:

Institutional ownership is likely not fully up to date yet. Institutional Holdings information is filed by major institutions on form 13-F with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Major institutions are defined as firms or individuals that exercise investment discretion, over the assets of others, in excess of $100 Million. Major institutions include financial holdings companies, banks, insurance companies, mutual fund managers, portfolio managers, self managed pension and endowment funds. The report is limited to equity securities, including common and equivalents, convertible preferred and convertible bonds. The report does not include fixed income, real estate, or cash equivalents. Reports are filed within 45 days after calendar quarter end with the vast majority of updates occurring near the 45th day of the quarter.
Today is the last day to file and EDGARS usually doesn't get everything popped until the Saturday night in many cases. If you sort the list and you will see many are not up to 9/30 reporting yet and also new entries are usually the latest lag.

Thank you for the input, and thank you for making SSG a better place to keep informed.
