DCX Gets Even More Sirius
November 4, 2006
DCX has not yet announced how many Sirius units they plan to install in the 2007 model year, but they have really stepped up to the plate with their latest offering the MyGIG system.
Simply stated, the MyGIG is a huge OEM step forward in audio, video, GPS, and more.
The MyGIG system will be featured on the mid priced Chrysler Sebring, Dodge Nitro, and Jeep Wrangler to start out with, and will be added to several models going forward. The strategy of supplying such a system that is typically seen in "High End" automobiles may well pay dividends for Chrysler. The mainstream consumer will now be treated to voice recognition, navigation, a stereo that creates playlists, shows pictures, shows video, and more.
The system will feature Sirius Satellite Radio as well as Sirius navigation and while this is speculation, it could be a very viable platform for satellite delivered video. As with all Chrysler brands, buyers will get 12 months of Sirius service with their purchase.
DCX launched the promotion on the internet Friday, and readers should pay close attention to television starting Sunday the 5th.
One thing is certain. MyGIG is going to change the way mid-priced vehicles are equipped, and satellite radio should see a great benefit from that.
