October 24, 2006

On a day when any good news would be very well received for XM investors, GM Canada announces that they have delivered 50,000 XM equipped GM cars.

Press Release:

50,000 GM Customers Now Enjoying Factory-Installed XM Satellite Radio

OSHAWA, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Oct. 24, 2006) - GM Canada today reached a milestone with the delivery of the 50,000th vehicle with factory-installed XM Satellite Radio. "Delivering 50,000 vehicles with factory-installed XM Satellite Radio in less than a year has exceeded our expectations," says Marc Comeau, vice president, sales, service and marketing, GM Canada.

"Customers have embraced satellite radio and we continue to see an increased demand for the service. In fact, along with our 50,000th delivery, we have an additional 50,000 customer orders for vehicles with XM Satellite Radio in our production schedule."

GM Canada factory-installs XM Satellite Radio in more than 50 models and GM Canada was the first automotive manufacturer to offer the service as a factory-installed option beginning in December 2005. "A factory-installed system in a GM vehicle is truly the best way to experience satellite radio," adds Comeau. "The system offers an advantage that can be seen and heard. The radio fits seamlessly into the vehicle without any visible wires and each GM vehicle is specifically engineered for premium performance including digital quality sound with optimal antenna placement."

"We are thrilled to have reached this incredible milestone of 100,000 orders including the 50,000 customers already enjoying XM Satellite Radio, with our longstanding partner GM Canada," said Stephen Tapp, president and chief operating officer of XM Canada. "As leaders in our respective industries, both GM and XM Canada are committed to providing Canadians with a superior driving and entertainment experience. This achievement, recognized much earlier than anticipated, further demonstrates the demand across Canada for the best in commercial-free music, all-star entertainment and non-stop sports action."

According to General Motors research, customers view the digital quality sound and commercial-free music as the features most valued with XM Satellite Radio. These two are followed closely by the ability to still receive AM/FM bands, the broad range of music, coast-to-coast coverage and the ongoing creation of new programming, such as the recently launched Oprah & Friends on XM Channel 156 and Mike Bullard Uncensored on XM Channel 153.Headquartered in Oshawa Ontario, General Motors of Canada employs more than 20,000 people nationwide. GM of Canada manufactures a variety of vehicles, engines, transmissions and other components, and markets the full range of General Motors vehicles and related services through 759 dealerships and retailers across Canada. Vehicles sold through this network include Chevrolet, Buick, Pontiac, GMC, Saturn, Hummer, Saab and Cadillac.
