Forbes.com on Bear Sterns Sirius Report
April 6, 2006
On the heels of new product releases by XM satellite radio, Forbes.com is reporting that Sirius Satellite Radio could snag the lead from rival XM with new products. Maya Roney wrote a piece about the subject today. The article is available
here via Forbes.com
Sirius satellite Radio has given very little detail about new products to be introduced this year. SSG fully expects some hot new products to hit the shelves, but the big question is when. Since taking the post as CEO, Mel Karmazin has held the new product cards close to the vest. Sirius has acknowledged that a live wearable device will be out this summer. Will Karmazin surprise consumers with a release in late spring?
SSG has reviewed the Bear Stearns report issue by analyst Robert Peck. Peck states several items in the piece that include discussion about technology, the focus of Sirius to deliver enhanced technologies while evaluating each business decision with respect to Cash Flow Break Even, the new wearable, and the fact that Sirius coming off of 52 week lows could be an attractive investment opportunity.
At this point who has the silicon advantage is unknown. XM’s new INNO device is in the hands of some who give it high marks (
see this story). The new Sirius live unit is still under tight wraps.
